Gluten Free Restaurants in Brooklyn, NY
gluten free in New York City? Well, you sure have come to the right spot. The gluten free restaurants NYC area is actually a mecca with its huge selection of gluten-free foods and beverages. Now, many years ago, gluten-free foods and beverages were not as readily available or affordable as they are today. This made going gluten free in NYC a difficult thing for many people with gluten intolerance or celiac disease.
It used to be that gluten-free food and beverages just didn't "make the cut" when it came to restaurant locations across the city. This was especially true when it came to lunch or dinner at local restaurants in Manhattan. Restaurants such as Little Beet on the East Side, La Dolce Vita on the Upper West Side, and Caiote Cafe on the Upper East Side all offer gluten-free menus. In fact, many of these restaurants have long standing gluten free restaurant locations. So even if you didn't live in New York City in the nineties, there are places where you can enjoy meals and beverages made without gluten. If you do happen to live in the Big Apple, there are still plenty of great places to enjoy some gluten-free favorites.
One of my favorite new restaurants in New York City is called Cross Contact. I love this place for several reasons. First, chef Mike Silverberg does an excellent job creating classic Latin-inspired dishes. The food is a fusion of many different cuisines including: Caribbean, Mexican, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, French, and of course, Latin. The food is beautiful, fresh, and very tasty.
Another gluten free dining spot in the Brooklyn area is called The Bagel Shop. It is located on Prospect Street at Front and Prospect Avenue. The Bagel Shop has an amazing selection of hand made bagels that are filled with delicious ingredients such as: shavings from the shiros, egg whites, lox, and sea salt. Other items include: fresh fruit, milk, and coffee. This is a wonderful modern bread and pastry shop where you will not be disappointed when you taste the award winning gluten free bread.
Also on the NYC streets is a gluten free bakery called A Veggie Shop. This bakery offers both baked goods and catering. They have an indoor and outdoor garden, which is filled with many types of vegetables and fruits. You can buy organic veggies, gluten free crackers, pita bread, gluten free dessert treats, organic juices, tea, and coffee.
Last but not least, is the gluten-free bakery called Flour Bakery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They offer many types of desserts and baked goods. They specialize in vegan and vegetarian baked products, including pies, tarts, deserts, and cookies. They also offer gluten free pastries and breads that contain no gluten.
There are many more gluten free bakery shops in all parts of Brooklyn, NY. These restaurants can be found on every corner of the Brooklyn Bridge and on every other avenue in and around Brooklyn. Make sure to take a look at all these wonderful shops when you are in the area.
